(AVI from Frames)

The main purpose of this LAB is the creation of film in "AVI" using a sequence of frames.

The projection programme consists of text-lines that each contains the starting and ending frame number.
The programme lines can be moved in the projection hierarchy by using the specific buttons.

The projection programme can be saved with the menu "File" and recalled at any time.
Saving the projection programme is not only important for allowing further work; it also provides the possibility of having different versions of the same film.

To create a new sequence line, the "Start" and "End" spinbuttons are used.
Each Spinbutton has the ability to independently preview the frame that it moves.
On moving the mouse on the spinbutton "Start" and "End" the frame of Start or End sequence is displayed.

The projection programme is a linear visual editor whose effect is immediately displayed by the dynamic preview.
The preview is available either for the entire projection programme or for just each line.
To see the preview of the whole film, use the "
Play" button and for the preview of a single line double-click on the line.
To change the speed of the preview use the menu "
Speed prev
".

To hide/reveal the controls dialogue-box, click on the image to toggle.

To hide the screen and the dialogue click on the standard "minimise" button.

To see the full screen you can use the "Max" button.

If the controls dialogue is hidden, to see/stop the preview use the "Enter
" key.

This laboratory is also used to show the previews of the sequences of frames generated from the various LABs of 3D Gugle.

Note
Remember that 3D Gugle is able to operate in multi-session mode and it is normal to work with more than one 3D Gugle contemporaneously open.

With this LAB it is possible to also develop another important function.
Often is it necessary to withdraw some of the frames from a sequence already saved, and these frames are not distributed in a continuous group but are in various places of the saved sequence.
This LAB is used to do this.
Open the sequence from which you want to withdraw the frames, compose the program of extraction and then you simple save the new sequence with "
Save Frame sequence" from the menu "File".

The various functions of the buttons won't be explained here because they have already been described in the control: "Frames from AVI".

The first thing that you’ll have to do it is to load the frames to create the film.

To load the frames select "Load Frames" from the "File" menu.

If you desire to insert frames from another film or text or to cut out or to apply graphic functions before accessing this laboratory you need to do some prior work.

For instance you can use the other specific laboratories of 3D Gugle such as:

Frames Utility
Resize, crop, insert logo/text, insert frames

2D to 3D movie conversion
To convert a film to stereo pairs or anaglyph or apply deformations

Save/Resize Batch
Batch resize a folder of images or frames using none, bilinear or high-quality bicubic interpolation and convert series of BMP images into frames that can be added to your Movie and invert the order of the frames when added to a normal-order of frames. This allows continuous cycling. Also encrypt/decrypt any type of file and to completely delete files with the function "TRUE Delete"

Graphic operation on frames
Contrast, brightness, Daylight, Greyscale, Gamma, Sharpen, Add colour, saturate or deghost a single frame or group of frames

Algorithms to Layers
To automatically create a new intermediate frames with many algorithms of transformatiom

Stereo Analysis
T
o automatically create the intermediate frames and dinamic effects by interpolation method

Layers Assembly
To assemble and manage the Layers to create animations

Write Lab
To write on images and to create Layers from text to add to your movie

Direct Layers
To extract the Layers from the images

Capture Video/Audio
To capture in AVI format videos from Web pages, DVD, etc.

To activate this LAB select the menu: "Movie/AVI from frames".

After having selected the various frames from which the film is composed and creating a program of film, before saving the new movie it is necessary to do two important things: select the method of compression and select the speed of frames per second.

To choose the compression method, from the "File" menu, select "Set AVI Compression".

In the preview window (on the right of the dialog box), you’ll see a special image.
This special image is necessary for the verification of the quality of the compression result and the reduction percentage.
The special image contains colours and lines that allow you to immediately appraise the possible final look of your film.

Generally, if you press the "Configuration" button, (but it depends on the type of compressor you use), a window will appear with which you can set the values that you need.

If you press the "Ok" button, the information will be memorized and it won't be necessary to recall this window anymore.
This obviously only works if you are going to always operate with the same type of compressor.

When it comes to plan the speed in frames per second, you’ll have to select "Set Frame Rate x sec" in the "File" menu and then the speed you prefer.

To know the exact speed of the original movie
use from the menu "File" of the "Frame from AVI" LAB "
Frame rate information" before extracting the frames.

The speed that is to be used depends on the type of film but generally 20 frames/sec is proper for anaglyphs and the film stereo pair. For Pulfrich film the speed is higher.

To add a sound use the menu "Load Wave sound”. The sound is automatically added when you save the movie.

To change (recompress) the format or/and the parameters of the sound you can use this procedure

Step 1. Open the *.wav file in Windows Sound Recorder (Start|Programs|Accesories|MultiMedia)
Step 2. Load the file in Sound Recorder
Step 3. Goto Properties (File|Properties)
Step 4. Click Convert Now
Step 5. Select the format, for example "MPEG-Layer 3", and set the attributes,
Step 6. Click Ok until you are back at the main window, after this operation pressing the button "Play" you can play using the new compressor and new parameter.

Step 7. To save, click "File/Save as" then the button "Change", select the prefered compressor to save the sound with the new format.

Remebere that, the extension of the new file can be only "*.WAV"

To save the film select "Save AVI" or "Save AVI with sound" and then write the name of the new movie.
