(Frame Converter)

This laboratory is to facilitate the exchange or the conversion of the frames between 3D Gugle and other software.

To activate this LAB from the menu "Movie", select "Frame Converter".

Please note that 3D Gugle has two other laboratories used for frames management:

"Save/Resize Batch " that allows you to resize,  flip, convert images into frames, etc.

"Frames Utility" to crop, add labels, combine sequences from different films, etc.

For more information about the graphics formats used in 3D Gugle see "Image Formats".

The laboratory operates in two modes:
"Export 3D Gugle Frames" to convert the frames of 3D Gugle into other formats
"Import Frames" to convert frames from other software into 3D Gugle Frames.

To select the operative mode click on the switches at top of the dialogue.

Each mode stores its parameters. On changing the mode, the previously set parameters become visible.

When "Export 3D Gugle Frames" is set, controls to convert 3D Gugle Frames into other formats are visible.

The button "Load Frames" loads 3D Gugle Frames manually by selecting frames from a group.
The frames can be selected in any order or in a non-continuous manner.
The multiple selection rules are the same as for Windows.

The button "Origin Folder" loads all 3D Gugle Frames present in a directory.
On pressing this button a dialog appears to enable selection of one directory.

The button "Destination Folder" selects a directory in which to save the 3D Gugle Frames converted into a new format.

"Prefix Text" is the textual part of the frame name that is common to the whole new sequence.
For example, inserting the text "Split" will output the frames with the following name and numbers:

Split0.bmp
Split1.bmp
Split2.bmp
.................

"Simple" and "Digit" determine the mode used to write the numeric part of the Frame.
If you select "Simple" at the prefix text, a progressive number will be simply added. "Digit", instead, creates a series of zeros to be allocated to the sequence number.

For example, using 4 digits obtains
Split0000.bmp
Split0001.bmp
Split0002.bmp
.................

The number of “Digit” must be consistent in quantity with the number of frames. (see formula below).

If the total number of frames exceeds the possibility of the digits an error will be reported.
The formula to estimate how many frames may be contained in a group of digits is:

Frame = 10 ^ digit numbers

E.g. 3 digits can contain 10 ^ 3 = 1000 frames.

Usually digital numbering is used because then the frames can be ordered in a rational way.
In the image below, the left column shows “Simple” ordering.

To determine the number of Digit
use the spin, which is shown below

On selecting "Format" you can determine in which format the frames will be exported.

To save the frames, press "Export Frames".

When the switch "
Import Frames
" is active, controls are visible to convert the frames created with other software to 3D Gugle Frames.

The button "Load Frames" loads frames created using other software. This selection involves manually selecting frames from a group.
The frames can be selected in any order or in a non-continuous manner.
The multiple selection rules used in the dialogue are the same as used in Windows.

The button "Origin Folder" loads all the frames in a directory.
On pressing this button, a dialog appears to enable selection of the directory.

The button "
Destination Folder" enables selection of a directory in which to save the frames converted into 3D Gugle Frames.

"
Prefix Text
" is the textual part of the frame name to be imported. The name must be common to the whole sequence.

For example the text "Split" imports frames that have the following numbers:

Split0.bmp
Split1.bmp
Split2.bmp
.................

To import the frames, press "Import Frames".

Note
Using the mode "Import Frames” it is also possible to renumber a sequence of non-continuous 3D Gugle Frames.
For example if you select discrete groups or individual frames you can obtain a series with a continuous numbering according to the specifications of 3D Gugle Frames.

In the image below, to the left the non-continuous series is selected and to the right is the result.

The procedures for the number reorganization are as follows.

1) With "Load Frames" or "Origin Folder" load the non-continuous sequence.
2) In "Prefix Text" type "Frame" (that is the prefix used by 3D Gugle Frames).
3) In "Destination Folder" select the folder in which to save the frames
4) Press the button "Import Frames" to complete the operation.
