(Frames Utility)

This control contains four important functions that are useful during your work on the frames.

The functions are
    1) resize;
    2) cropping;
    3) inserting logo/text;
    4) inserting frames from another film.

The button "Apply" applies the selected function for the frames included between the Spin "Start" and the Spin "End".

Note
1) Many of this laboratory's functions and controls are described in the Tutorial of
"Frames from AVI" LAB.
2) To hide/reveal the controls dialogue-box, click on the screen to toggle.

To activate the LAB from the menu "Movie" select "Frames Utility".

The first thing that has to be done is to load the frames.
Select "
Load frames" from the "File" menu.

After having loaded the frames you must choose the function to perform.

To choose the type of operation click the buttons in the upper part of the window.

When the operation is selected the button becomes yellow.

"Zoom"

With the "Zoom" function you can resize a series of frames.

The values of the new dimensions, (in pixel or in percentage) must be inserted with the keyboard in the grey input box.

Always remember that almost all film compression uses only pixel dimensions divisible by eight.

If the sizes inserted in the input box are not valid for creating a film, the pixel box will turn the text to red.

The zoom is normally applied to a whole group of frames but if you wish to resize only a part of your frames, select this part with the spinbuttons.

"Crop"

The "Crop" function cuts out the side of the frames.

The scroll bar position corresponds to a side of the image.

"Add Frames"

The "Add frames" function inserts frames from another film into the current directory (opened frames).

When this function is activated a new button is visible with which you select the directory that contains the frames to insert.

After having loaded the frames to insert, the window will change look and new controls to be visible.

The point of insertion in the main frames is set from the left Spin "Start" (in lower) and the number of frames to be inserted begin and end with the two numbers determined by the values inserted in the spins (Start/End) in the green section.

Normally the frames are added to the end of the main frames.
To use this method select the check box "
Add frames to end" and set the start and the end point in the Spins of the green panel.

When you create a film with the "AVI from frames" or other 3D Gugle movie LAB doesn't have any importance where the inserted frames are located because it is possible to move in any point of the new film.

If the added frames is with a different pixels sides of the main frames it is possible to resize.
"
Unchange" No change
"
Fill" Resize and fill completely the image
"
Proportional
" Resize but the image are resized in a proportional way and centered in the frame space.

"Add Mark"(Logo)

With the "Add mark" function it’s possible to add logo/text or an image to the frames.

The button "Load mark" loads the sketch to insert.

The sketch can only be a bit-map with extension "*.gna, *.bmp, *.png" and of 24 bit colours.

After having loaded the bit-map, the window changes and the new controls are visible.

The scrollbars X and Y move the added sketch into the preferred position.

To make a colour transparent in the added bitmap, select the colour from the "Transparent colour" listbox.

"No OP"
If you only want to see the preview of the frames without graphic operations, select this button.
